As we know , London is a diverse city with hundreds of nations living in it, so there are also celebrations for those ones who aren’t Londoners, but wishing to have a bit of home in London, so the capital host many festivals for many nations. Here is one of them, Chinese New Year is a huge festival among Chinese communities in London and across the world. In London there are many Chinese communities, so there will be bright celebrations for them on 29th of January, the main London Chinatown Chinese Association celebrations will take place in Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square and Chinatown!

Its all about the celebration now, right? Christmas, New Year´s eve….yes talking about new year, we all know that Chinese Calendar is different, so this year it falls on January 23rd, Chinese New Year also called the Lunar New Year, occurring early months of our calendar, typically January or February. This is the first of 15 days of celebration and the start of the Year of the Dragon:) It´s a time of the year to welcome all positive like wealth and prosperity and to eliminate all negative chi of the past. This two weeks long celebration is very symbolic and all about the important do´s and dont´s!

Nowadays, there are many people believing these signs of the year and horoscopes, and here it is, in Chinese tradition, each year dedicated a specific animal, Dragon, Horse, Monkey, Rat, Rabbit, Dog, Rooster, Ox, Tiger, Snake and Ram, these are the 12 animals that are part of the Chinese tradition. This year 2011 is still Rabbit´s one, and the fallowing will be Dragon, which is powerful Animal, so the year should be strong and grateful , all depends of the sign you are born in , each of these animals are thought to bestow their characteristics.
